About Us
I don't think that there has been a time in my life in which a dog has not been an important factor. In fact I don't believe that there ever will be! I can not imagine life without my four legged friends. We bought our fabulous property almost 25 years ago and my journey into producing retrievers began. My first love, was the incredible Labrador Retriever. Many years were spent producing high quality English Type Labrador's. My girls Echo, Skye, and Star produced many high quality Labs. I recently got a call from one of my Lab puppy buyers expressing such sadness at the loss of his beloved Lab and wanting another. I had to sadly say that I no longer was breeding the Lab but was focused on my second love, the Golden Retriever.
I must say,I have fallen deeply in love with this breed. The intelligence, loyalty, love and dedication this breed exhibits is truly remarkable. I recieved my first Golden "Samantha" as a birthday present from my father. She came home with me and promptly decided she was going to be my husband's dog. She loves me, but she is his dog. She lives and breaths for him. She watches his every move, always anticipating when and if, she can go with him. In the morning if he comes down the stairs with his suit on she know he is going to the office and she can't go. She won't get off the couch! However, if he comes down the stairs and he has his "farm" cloths on then she is by his side ,ears up and alert, prancing, cause she gets to do fun stuff with her dad! They say dogs can't reason. Well, let me tell you the Golden Retriever can not only reason, they can make you do cartwheels if they want you too! Our "Sam" is truly one of the smartest dogs I have ever known. Although she can't speak English, she comunicates with her eyebrows, her paws and she has even learnt how to "sigh"...When you get the sigh.. it means "for goodness sake people get with the program"!
Shortly after Sam arrived,Blissfull became our second Golden. This bubbly full of life dog became my shadow. Wewill have some peace. Cheryl has her dog. We will be content with two. But somehow when it comes to the Golden you just can't help yourself. Although, my Bliss, is the love of my life I began to feel the pull to want to improve the breed and breed some top quality Goldens. My dad and step mom had been breeding quality goldens for about 10 years, and with his help we found a suitable "mate" for Sam. Sam produced 11 beautiful babies. 10 were nice sized puppies and one runt. I spent the next 2 weeks hand feeding and making sure this little miracle survived. This puppy is my China. The second love of my life. The bond created between her and myself is the strongest bond I think I have ever seen. The only time China is not by my side or sleeping on the foot of my bed is when she out side playing with the rest of her friends! She is my China Doll. I only wish more breeders would spend the time with their little miracles. Truly they turn out to be the most loving of all dogs. My daughter also had a favorite in this litter and so we became a family of four goldens. Spice was also kept. She is our comedian. Never a funnier dog has lived. She smiles so big you think you are about to be eaten! She has a love of life like no other. Her favorite is to go for a truck ride. She loves to ride shot gun and will do almost anything to get that seat. She sits with her elbow on the the window ledge and sometimes it is all I can do not to laugh out loud at this picture! All of our girls love to go for a truck ride. They also love camping, swimming , fetch ,chasing the geese, and love coming to the barn! For all you horse lovers, I must say the Golden is great around horses and horses seem to sense that the Golden will not chase them and so both can live comforatably together.I recently decided to purchase my own male. This is a decision that did not come lightly as my dogs live in our home 24/7 and to add a male was a big decision. However, it was love at first sight. Patrica Moor imported a wonderful female from France with many Championship in the line, and with many mulit national championed dogs with several Best in Show wins, and a wonderful boy from the States again a pedigree filled with Championships. This produced my "Hunter". Wow, what a magnificent dog he has grown into. Everybody who comes wants to take him home. He is conformationally correct with a fabulous topline, lovely correct tail and a head that just melts your heart. He is such a great dog! He love's life and living with us and all his girls. Our most recent addition to our ever growing Golden family is Charm. Oh, my what a dog. Smart as a whip and loving to no end. She was kept from Bliss' litter born Aug of 2008 and is growing into a really beautiful dog. GoldenAssest's Mack the Knife is her daddy and I will be forever in debt to Mary for allowing me to use this wonderful boy! Charm, is just that, a real Charm. Her stunning head and ever so correct body, lovely personality make her one of my nicest dogs. You know they always say that when life is busy you just get what you need to get done ...done! An opportunity arose while raising China and Spices litter of puppies to make my life even busier but certainly fuller as well. I took the plunge again, and purchased a lovely female from Sylon kennels. Judy Taylor has been raising top quality english goldens for 40 years. She is also a golden judge. When she called to say she had a lovely female from lines that will truly compliment our Hunter I had to take the drive to see for myself. Sure enough our little Wanda will hopefully produce some quality english retrievers. She is a true cream colour with fabulous black pigment. Her eyes would melt even the novice dog lover. She has a great front and fabulous angles behind and carries herself like a Queen. She has taken to my pillow at night and just loves to cuddle and snuggle. Through the day she just loves playing with Charm and Hunter. I catch her often enough curled up between Hunters legs snuggled right close. She is a real sweetie. Very quiet tempermant with a heart of gold. You know sometimes you just have to go for it! When Gypsy and Breau had their lovely litter of puppies one little gem kept coming to me! Everytime I would go to play with the puppies this little one would always be there first, tail wagging, and cleaning my face from top to bottom. Each time I would pick up a puppy, there she was! She was really tugging at my heart strings. I wasn't sure quite how to break the news to my husband, but the deed was done! At 6 weeks not only had this little one gained by heart, now she was in my head. What great conformation she has. Fabulous golden girl head with dark pigmention. Super bone , great topline and brillant tail and tail set. So Gidget became our 8 th golden retriever. She wins the heart of everyone who meets her. She is so happy and bubbly and no one can believe what a good little puppy she is. She listens to every word you say and wants nothing more than to please you. When I sit at my computer she is by my feet. When I am watching the news she is on my lap!And she adores her time with the other dogs on her frequent walks about the farm. We introduced her to the horses and she is cautious but not afraid. Her best friend is Wanda who has taken to teaching her how to rip stuffing out of pillows, but other than that is an absolute dream puppy!
So being a retired Real Estate Agent, my days have gone from busily showing houses, preparing and presenting offers to being surrounded by my 8 four legged friends. They are without a doubt a true blessing. They have taught me patience and a certain peace of being. They remind me each and every day how wonderful it is to have been given this opportunity of raising, caring for and loving these wonderful dogs. This is truly a dream come true!
BREEDER OATH
WE WILL IN EVERYTHING THAT WE DO BE AWARE THAT WE ARE THE CARETAKERS OF THE FUTURE OF THE GOLDEN RETRIEVER. EACH ACTION WE TAKE, EVERY DECISION WE MAKE, CAN AND WILL AFFECT THE GOLDEN RETRIEVER AS A BREED, TODAY AND POSSIBLY FAR INTO THE FUTURE. WE ARE AWARE THAT POOR BREEDING DECISIONS HAVE CAUSED THE DOWNFALL OF SOME POPULAR BREEDS. AS CARETAKERS OF THE GOLDEN RETRIEVER, WE WILL PROTECT NOT ONLY THE DOGS THAT ARE LIVING TODAY, BUT THOSE THAT ARE NOT YET TO BE BORN. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBLITY TO SEE THE GOLDEN RETRIEVER GO INTO THE FUTURE EVERYTHING THE BREED WAS INTENTED TO BE.
